Information on visiting Ann Arbor:

Airport Ground Transportation: There is a long, sad history with shuttle service to and from the Detroit airport. The Ann Arbor visitor page lists several shuttle services, and lately we've heard better things about their level of service, but the most reliable method is taxi service, which costs about $45-50 each way.

Parking, as on most college campuses, is a constant source of frustration. Information on visitor parking, with maps, is available at: UM Parking Information

Hotels: There are many hotels and B&B's to choose from. As you might expect, the hotels within walking distance to campus (Bell Tower, Campus Inn, Michigan League) are also the most expensive. There are several hotels out by the Briarwood Mall that are less expensive, but would be a good hike on foot. There is public transportation from them: the #36 bus is a shuttle from the Four Points Sheraton and Wolverine Tower, and runs every 20 minutes till 6pm, then every 40 minutes till 10pm. The fare is $1.50 each way. The Central Campus stop you want is at the Shapiro Library (stop 5 on the schedule).

Food: There is a lot of good information around. Some of our favorites, though:

There are also places like Panera, Potbelly's, and Cosi dotted across campus for quick lunches.
